The Maxi Protector is a series of the Protector Range that utilises the hydraulics of the flowing stormwater to push the water through a series of efficient filtration systems, each with specialised capture process for a variety of contaminants. Each filter is made from FRP, design and manufactured using our chop hoop filament winding technique for long life, corrosion resistance and strength. The system can be arranged in any format with any number of maxifilters in combination in a range of installation types to suit any site demands.

The MaxiProtector uses the most efficient filtration techniques in a compacted layered design to provide the best stormwater treatment available. The system uses the hydraulic flow of stormwater to move the contaminated water into our MAXIPROTECTOR system. The water level is raised in the casing of the specially designed MAXIFILTERS. The Maxi protector is utilised to remove sediment, hydrocarbons, heavy metals, phosphates, and a range of other contaminants from stormwater to be returned to our water systems clean and safe for the environment. Installed in singular form, or in a multiple system, our system can cover a wide range of flow rates, catchment areas and inflow.

Easily retrofitted into existing stormwater systems or installed simply into new constructions, the water passes through the usual catchment systems, such as stormwater drains or grates and into the Maxiprotector. The water flows into the initial catchment area and uses the force of gravity for force the water through a zeolite filter and our specially made AFM filter. Zeolite is currently the most advanced media in the filtration market and is used instead of sand in sand filters, but with a greater efficiency. It binds and removes contaminants such as ammonia and nitrogen, heavy metals such as mercury and lead, far better than sand filter ranges available in the market. The water is then filtered through a series of filter nozzles in an optimally designed filter floor for a final filtration process. The water is then push up through a central riser pipe into secondary capture area where upon filling is then discharged out of the system, or into a secondary or follow up maxiprotector filter to continue the process. 


  • Bypass
    The Bypass system is simple in its design. In scenarios of high flow, when the water reaches a level in which the Maxi protector filters are unable to keep up with the flow of the water, the system uses the overflow over the baffle to release water. In these high overflows however, the bypass system does not filter the water as the Maxiprotector would. The Baffle does allow for removal of sediment however, and due to this, in the event of high flow situations, maintenance needs to be conducted for cleaning and sediment removal.
  • Multiple Cartridge Sizing
    Adjust the size and numeration of the MaxiProtector Filter to suit the size required.
  • Retrofitting
    Due to the design of the maxiprotector, these filters can be installed into pre-existing stormwater structures including pre-existing stormwater storage systems or pre-existing vaults.
  • Backwash
  • The Maxiprotector filtration system has a self-cleaning feature that uses backwashing concept. As the water fills up the filter, due to the location of the exit of the filter, a vacuum is formed as the water forces out the air in the system. Once the water has lowered to an appropriate water level, the vacuum is broken and then the water floods back through the system, removing sediment captured in the filter.

Due to the systems range of installation configurations and preassembled delivery and manufacture (for FRP installation types), the maxiprotector system is able to be installed in a wide range of locations and applications. The maxifilter itself has only one size, but due to our design, inlet and outlet positions, each filter can easily be connected through a PVC piping system to increase the scale of your filtration rate.

The installation of the MaxiProtector follows a simple process. A complete installation hand book is supplied to ensure the installation goes smoothly and to plan. The guide provides advice for lifting, OHS measures, handling techniques and other important requirements.

  1. Excavate an area for positioning with suitable easy placing of the tank and filling as well as for consolidating concrete for backfilling.
  2. Lifting and handling of the system must use appropriate processes. More details can be found in the Manual. All lifting apparatus (cables, straps, chains etc.) must be provided by a contractor.
  3. Installation can be conducted with or without appropriately designed feet for the product, each with their own following installation instruction details found in the Installation Manual.
  4. The system can be secured in several ways including Pea gravel and concrete surrounds, stabilised sand surroundings, concrete base and concrete surround, pea gravel backfill, mechanical anchoring etc. All have been clearly outlined in the installation manual provide by Protector.
  5. Allow for protection of inlets/discharge points/vents to be supervised by contractor. Connect each suitably designed fitting with the desired location for completion.

All of the Protector range have been individually engineered to handle the toughest environmental situations and proven in the toughest environments such as highwater tables and volcanic soils. Problems in these areas have been solved with the installation of the Maxiprotector. The casing and the FRP installation arrangement are manufactured in the same process that the rest of our products are manufactured in and hence to the same standards.

The Packaged Maxiprotector are engineered to the following Standards:BS4994 – 1987, AS/NZS 1546.1:1998. Hydraulic and civil engineering can also be provided to your requirements.

Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer are strengthened materials that shows higher resistance to the corrosion which makes them ideal to be implemented for the tanks. They can be exposed to the water for years without being corrupted. Light weight, being resistant to high temperature and easy on-site installation are some of the desirable features that FRP indicates. Furthermore, FRP plates have higher mechanical strength which enables them to carry higher loads compared to plastics.


Even though the maxiprotector FRP casing and filter casing is relatively light weight, pound for pound they are stronger than alternative structures. The EnviroProtector has no joins leaving a smooth, clean internal surface that resists scum and sludge build up and allows no leakage to the external environment. The lightweight configuration of the EnviroProtector simplifies handling and reduces costs in transport, labour and handling down time.
